Industrial buildings can be complex by nature with many housing manufacturing facilities in a highly serviced engineering environment. Many of these sites offer substantial scope for energy and carbon reduction. Industrial sites are often characterized by large energy consumption, wasteful energy processes as part of production cycle, old and inefficient equipment, lack of management systems to adequately address site energy management and dated and energy inefficient work practices.
With a structured approach to energy management savings, it is possible that Green Energy Solutions can save you between 20%-40% in electrical and thermal energy costs. Green Energy Solutions also offer financing options for those who are reluctant to make a big initial investment.
Green Energy Solutions provided carbon reduction strategies for Pfizer to help them meet their carbon reduction programmes. This project helped realise Pfizer's carbon savings through renewable engineering solutions. Proposals included wind turbines, wood gasification and biomass boiler. Proposals will eliminate the carbon impact equivalent of 108,000 barrels of oil per annum has been identified for implementation over a 4 – 5 year time frame. Saving in excess of €400,000 annually have been identified through plant rationalization without significant capital expenditure.
Our engineers provided Mechanical and Electrical Consultancy services to Timoney Technology. This is a good example of integration of industrial processes with building systems to create efficiency. Waste heat from the test laboratory machines is recovered and contributes to the building space heating. This is not only reducing waste but reducing energy costs of heating the building.
Since 2006, sister company Noel Lawler Consulting Engineers have carried out a works on a number of NCT Centres around Ireland, including it’s headquarters in CityWest Dublin. Recently, Green Energy Solutions staff have been involved in advising engineers of the best approach to energy efficiency in these warehouse buildings.
The dark warehouse appearance of these centres, combined with few windows and natural lighting means a large amount of design and wiring had to be included in these buildings.
NLCE were commissioned in lots of new builds for NCT nationwide, including four centres in Dublin. Many others required upgrade to mechanical and electrical works and others required full refurbishent. The headquarters based in CityWest required an AC upgrade to offices and corridors. We continue to work with NCT Centres to this day.
