Brown Thomas Group
Green Energy Solutions carried out an energy audit of the Brown Thomas Group stores throughout Ireland as part of SI 426 compliance along with the development of a register of opportunities which was developed into a sustainability roadmap to reduce its energy and carbon footprint long term.
Green Energy Solutions were able to identify energy saving opportunities which would result in annual energy cost savings of €1M resulting in a payback of just under 3 years. We also developed a sustainable development strategy for the Group which encompassed energy and water conservation, waste disposal and recycling, and renewable energy technologies.
GES are acting as the ‘Energy Efficient Design (EED)’ expert as the Group is applying for ‘Excellence in Energy Efficient Design’ (EXEED) certification from the SEAI at its four city centre stores, including its flagship store in Grafton St, Dublin. This certification would mean that the Brown Thomas buildings were designed and built to achieve high performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality.
We continue to work with Brown Thomas, guiding them through CSR programmes and Carbon Reduction strategies. The identified savings of €1M will take a substantial chunk from Brown Thomas' energy bills which can be reinvested in their sustainability efforts.
